The Great Porte BALE OUT is how we aid in the fight against food scarcity, one BALE garden system at a time.
While we are grateful and will continue to amplify all who are giving away free food to our community, through The Great Porte BALE OUT, we're giving away free food systems to feed yourselves and your community for a lifetime.

Prioritizing our At-Risk Community
Homeless, VA, WIC, EBT, SNAP, DV social services families to the front of the line. We offer our hay bale growing starter systems for our at-risk community for FREE!
We also offer low cost ($20/bale) growing systems to all other community members, although availability will depend on how many at risk individuals/families are still in need, as they will always get first dibs.
To determine at-risk status and maintain the integrity of a needs first culture of support, we will require proof of homeless resource registration, or proof of government assistance. As well we must receive proof of family size.
All Franklin County At-Risk community members are eligible for FREE hay bale growing systems. (1 bale for every 2 family members living together / in the same household or living space)
Anyone desiring to grow their own food for life are eligible for $20 hay bale growing systems if there are no at risk registrations ahead of you on the BALE OUT List.
All funds earned from hay bale system sales will be placed back into The Great Porte BALE OUT program to continue opoerating and facilitating this progressively impactful outreach opportunity.
What is included in the Hay Bale Growing System?
A locally sourced straw hale bales that we condition with our all natural fertilization process to prep your hay bale for production.
(2-4) starter seedlings to begin your food sovereignty journey. Each hay bale will come fitted with a combination/mix of leafy greens and/or beans, and a pollinator, and should produce enough to seasonally feed (2) people.
A seasonal crop planting guide for growing tips and succession planting planning for elongated harvests.
Discover the low-cost, high-impact regenerative, soil-free method to grow fresh food for a lifetime.
