Hey Hey!  Planning A Visit to The Porte?!

  • parking at The Porte is $2 per hour. Parking lots often fill to capacity when the weather is nice. 

  • Vaccinated visitors are no longer required to wear masks indoors, in accordance with CDC regulations and Franklin County health policies. If you have possible Covid symptoms or have been exposed to someone with Covid, please postpone your visit.

  • Restrooms located directly outside of The Porte Focus Lounge.

  • Dog-walking is permitted at The Porte for special occasions and will be specified on our events calendar page when applicable. Dogs must remain on a leash 6 feet or shorter.

Porte NOIRE Gardens located atop a hill with streams at its feet which offers various changes in slope throughout the property. both paths and open areas are a mix of paved road, gravel, mulched paths, grassy knolls and rustic trails.  navigation may be a challenge our guests who use wheelchairs, walkers or other assisting devices.


We have improvements underway and we will continue to make the Gardens increasingly accessible and enjoyable for all visitors.

Labels of various plants and foliage are easily visible. There are shaded benches throughout the gardens for rest and relaxation.  Porte NOIRE Gardens does not offer wheelchair rentals.

  • Dogs are only allowed during Dog Days events and will be specified on the events calendar.  No other pets permitted

  • Plants should be left for all to enjoy unless you are purchasing a sow 2 grow bag. (*please do not pick or cut any part of a plant)

  • Stay on paths and keep all play / activities in/on designated spaces.

  • Groups of 10 or more, please register in advance via email.

  • Portrait and special occasion photography is by permit only.  To learn more, review our Photography & Portrait package here. Request a Permit here.

  • Drone photography is not permitted, in order to ensure garden visitors' safety and privacy.

  • please do not feed the animals - It harms the wildlife to be fed food intended for people (bread, etc.)

  • Walk bikes through the gardens—don't ride them

  • Carry out what you carry in - do your part in keeping our environment clean.

  • Supervise children

    • all youth 0 to 13 years of age must be accompanied by an adult (18yrs of age or older).

    • all youth 14 to 17 years of age must have their parent/guardian (21yrs of age or older) to complete a Parental Consent Form for the youth to visit The Porte unattended.  please contact us for the form or more information.
